L’antica locanda infestata: Il Farnsworth House Inn

The ancient haunted inn: The Farnsworth House Inn

Friends we talk about an old inn that is located a short distance from the sadly famous Gettysburg … It is a solid construction structure, dating back to 1810 which was then expanded to the current size by a certain John McFarland.

Because of its imposing structure during the civil war it was used as a shelter by some units of the Confederate soldiers that triggered bloody battles with the union. The dead certainly did not fail, as you can imagine, and today that the structure is now at peace and used as an inn, many legends were born or perhaps, as some say, the entities disturbed by the movement of the living are manifested.

The entities that are believed to live inside would belong to some confederate soldiers dead inside it, moreover there are really many testimonies of steps heard on the stairs and invisible presences that would rest on the beds … In addition to these strange testimonies almost all the guests say they saw shadows sliding down the corridors and through the walls of the inn and, in particular, shadows that would appear in the dining room, which, according to all the witnesses, would be the busiest point of the inn.

Among the various apparitions described, the most singular, it would surely be the one in the corridor that runs between the dining room and the kitchen, a realistic appearance of an elderly woman dressed in 19th century clothes who would look at the objects stored on the shelves. It is said that it disappears without a trace, and has been sighted for many years, but no one is sure of who it is; maybe the spirit of a housekeeper who controls stocks …?

As always there is no way to verify everything, but the history of this place leaves at least doubt.
