Una delle leggende marinare più antiche: The flying Dutchman
Amici se leggete abitualmente il mio blog sapete che ho una certa passione per le leggende ed in particolare per quelle marinare, così ricche di particolari curiosi e spesso agghiaccianti… Ho volutamente aspettato un po’ prima di proporvi quella che a mio avviso è la leggenda più rappresentativa di questo genere: L’olandese Volante, o come dicono i nostri cugini anglosassoni, The flying Dutchman.
Questa nave ha lasciato un segno nei cuori e nei pensieri di tutti i marinai del mondo, per prima cosa perché è una legenda nata da fatti realmente accaduti e, in secondo luogo, perché sulla sua storia sono stati scritti numerosi racconti e raccontate migliaia di storie che hanno alimentato il suo mito. Il flying Dutchman era una nave comandata da Van der Decken lungo la rotta per le Indie Orientali che, a causa di condizioni climatiche avverse nella zona del Capo di Buona Speranza è andata incontro ad un triste destino. Leggenda vuole che le ultime parole del capitano siano state per giurare che avrebbe raggiunto la sua meta oppure sarebbe andato alla deriva fino al giorno del giudizio…
Dopo la scomparsa della nave sono state migliaia le segnalazioni del suo avvistamento, avvistamento che viene riportato come una nave con le vele strappate che appare all’improvviso e scompare nel nulla… Certo si tratta solo di una leggenda, ma se lo chiedete ad un vero marinaio vi dirà che non lo è, perché infondo tutti vogliono crederci.
