L’ignobile testo che ha causato uno sterminio: Il Malleus Maleficarum

Amici siamo nel basso medioevo (1000 – 1492 d.C.) ed è quasi alla fine di questo periodo, nel 1487, che due frati domenicani Jacob Sprenger e Heinrich Institor Kramer, allo scopo di reprimere in Germania l’eresia, il paganesimo e la stregoneria, scrissero quello che sarà ricordato come uno dei più abbietti libri della storia, il Malleus Maleficarum (Il Martello delle Malefiche, quindi delle Streghe).

Il tutto ebbe inizio nel 1484 allorché papa Innocenzo VIII con una sua bolla intitolata “Summis desiderantes affectibus” conferì ai due francescani pieni poteri in alcune regioni della Germarnia per perseguire chiunque praticasse stregoneria o riti pagani di qualunque tipo. Ma come si sa il potere da alla testa e i due frati misero in moto una macchina spaventosa seguendo unicamente una loro visione estremista ed iniziarono quella che oggi conosciamo come caccia alle streghe.

Il malleus maleficarum è in realtà una raccolta di dicerie ed idiozie tratte da altri testi quali il Directorium inquisitorum di Nicolas Eymerich (1376) e il Formicarius di Johannes Nider. Il testo è diviso in tre parti, nella prima si da alla natura della donna la colpa della licenziosità nei confronti dei Demoni, nella seconda si approfondisce appena e spiegano come si possa eliminare il problema, mentre nella terza si danno istruzioni su come catturare, torturare ed uccidere le streghe.

La credenza che esistono esseri quali le streghe è parte cosi essenziale della Fede cattolica che il sostenere ostinatamente l’opinione opposta sa manifestamente di eresia.

Friends we are in the late Middle Ages (1000 – 1492 AD) and it is almost at the end of this period, in 1487, that two Dominican friars Jacob Sprenger and Heinrich Institor Kramer, in order to repress in Germany heresy, paganism and witchcraft, they wrote what will be remembered as one of the most abject books in history, the Malleus Maleficarum.

It all began in 1484 when Pope Innocent VIII with his bull entitled “Summis desiderantes affectibus” conferred on the two full Franciscans powers in some regions of Germarnia to prosecute anyone practicing witchcraft or pagan rituals of any kind. But as you know the power from the head and the two friars set in motion a frightening machine following only one of their extremist views and began what we know today as witch hunts.

The malleus maleficarum is actually a collection of rumors and idiocies taken from other texts such as the Directorium inquisitorum by Nicolas Eymerich (1376) and the Formicarius by Johannes Nider. The text is divided into three parts, in the first one gives the nature of the woman the guilt of the licentiousness towards the Demons, in the second it deepens just and explains how we can eliminate the problem, while in the third one gives instructions on how to capture, torture and kill witches.

The belief that there are beings such as witches is so essential part of the Catholic Faith that stubbornly supporting the opposite opinion clearly knows of heresy.
