Le origini del male ed i Demoni Babilonesi: Lamashtu
Amici oggi parleremo di mitologia e precisamente di un demone noto con il nome di Lamashtu…
Spesso e volentieri parliamo di Demoni e creature maligne di vario genere senza chiederci la loro origine, ebbene dovete sapere che la stragrande maggioranza di questi esseri è nota all’uomo fin dall’origine dei tempi.
Il popolo Babilonese aveva una folta mitologia riguardo a queste creature e le ha descritte in varie tavole giunte fino a noi, tanto che, nei secoli, hanno cambiato nome e spesso aspetto nella letteratura, ma si tratta degli stessi esseri (pensiamo a creature di origine Fenicia divenute Satana nella religione Cristiana e passate da essere benevole a maligne).
Lamashtu, uno Spirito assassino di bambini, ha il corpo dalle sembianze umane ma la testa di un grande felino, in genere un leopardo. Sembra essere femminile, uccide con gli artigli e adora strappare i feti dal ventre delle donne incinte.
Nei testi cuneiformi appare come nome comune di una collettività di demoni femminili, ma generalmente si presenta con un alto grado di personificazione, identificata talora con Ishtar, della quale però è detta altre volte cliente; è considerata figlia di Anu o Enlil;
A protezione della rivale Lamashtu veniva invocato il dio Pazuzu dei venti, ma le attività di Lamashtu potevano esserle placate offrendole pane e acqua pulita e con rituali che coinvolgevano cani neri.
Come nel caso di Pazuzu molte sono le discrepanze generate dalla religione Cristiana che spesso e volentieri ha relegato tutto ciò che non era conforme alla propria dottrina a mera malvagità…

Often we talk about Demons and malign creatures of various kinds without asking their origin, well you must know that the vast majority of these beings is known to man since the beginning of time.
The Babylonian people had a thick mythology about these creatures and described them in various tables that have come down to us, so much so that, over the centuries, they have changed their names and often appear in literature, but they are the same beings (think of creatures of origin Phenicia became Satan in the Christian religion and passed from being benevolent to malignant).
Lamashtu, a killer Spirit of children, has a human-like body but the head of a big cat, usually a leopard. It seems to be feminine, kills with claws and loves to tear the fetuses from the belly of pregnant women.
In cuneiform texts it appears as the common name of a collectivity of female demons, but generally presents itself with a high degree of personification, sometimes identified with Ishtar, of which however it is called other times client; she is considered a daughter of Anu or Enlil;
To protect the rival Lamashtu the god Pazuzu of the winds was invoked, but the activities of Lamashtu could be appeased by offering them clean bread and water and with rituals involving black dogs.
As in the case of Pazuzu there are many discrepancies generated by the Christian religion that often relegated everything that did not conform to its doctrine to mere evil …
