The Serafina witch, a specter that infests Gorizia’s castle

Friends do you know the ghost stories related to the castle of Gorizia? Yes, I speak of stories in the plural because they are more than one, but today we will consider that of a witch known as Serafina that seems to be present in the coldest nights …

The castle, from the eleventh century is located on the hill overlooking the city. Its appearance has changed a lot over the centuries, the Mastio, in fact, was devastated by the Venetians and only its foundations remain, yet its grandeur is not affected. By order of Leopold of Habsburg the door was built that allows entry to the historic structure, which is called Leopoldina.
Of the Witch we know very little, it seems to appear on the highest part of the bastion and the legends tell that it is an evil figure capable of presaging misfortunes. According to the legend, it is absolutely dangerous to cross his gaze from which derives its malign power, which if crossed leads to death within a month … Clearly they are superstitions, yet many are convinced that the witch exists and avoids attending the place on the coldest days.
