La strega divoratrice di bambini: Lamia
Amici parliamo oggi di una creatura leggendaria dalla terribile fama, la Lamia. Secondo la mitologia greca (che ha dato loro origine, è una leggenda eh) si tratterebbe di una figura femminile in parte umana ed in parte animale, dedita al rapimento di bambini ed al consumo della loro carne…
Con il tempo questo essere mitologico (che in principio era una divinità) ha subito un processo di Demonizzazione ad opera del popolo che, spinto dalla paura, cercava dei metodi per difendersi dalle terribili dicerie su tali esseri generando superstizioni come questa. Alla già terribile fama attribuita alla Lamia si aggiunge anche il mito del mondo Romano e Greco Classico secondo il quale in origine Lamia era una bellissima fanciulla e regina della Libia con cui Zeus generò dei figli scatenando le ire della consorte Era.
La moglie tradita (e pare fosse consuetudine per Zeus), decise di vendicarsi uccidendo i figli di Lamia (pare se ne salvarono due, Scilla e Sibilla). A seguito di questo terribile atto, Lamia, del tutto fuori di se, iniziò a rapire ed uccidere i figli delle altre madri succhiando loro il sangue e divorandone le carni, ed ecco perché si pensa che Lamia abbia generato il mito del Vampirismo.
Incredibile dictu oggi esistono diverse pratiche per tenersi al sicuro da questa “strega”, una, in particolare, consiglia di cospargere del sale grosso a formare un cerchio attorno alle panche delle chiese una volta che tutti si siano seduti, perché in questo modo, la strega (che spesso assume forma umana per ingannare gli uomini), non potrà oltrepassare il cerchio e sarà semplice individuarla… Una pratica curiosa questa che ricorda il sistema per generare un cerchio sicuro contro i fantasmi, ma questa è un’altra storia…

With time this mythological being (which in the beginning was a deity) underwent a process of demonization by the people who pushed by fear sought methods to defend themselves from the terrible rumors about such beings generating superstitions like this. To the already terrible fame attributed to Lamia is added also the myth of the Roman and Classical Greek world according to which originally Lamia was a beautiful girl and queen of Libya with which Zeus begat sons by unleashing the wrath of his wife Hera.
The wife betrayed (and seems to be customary for Zeus), decided to take revenge by killing the sons of Lamia (it seems if they saved two, Scilla and Sibilla). Following this terrible act, Lamia, completely out of her mind, began to kidnap and kill the children of other mothers by sucking their blood and devouring their flesh, and this is why Lamia is thought to have generated the myth of Vampirism.
Incredible dictu today there are several practices to keep safe from this “witch”, one, in particular, advises to sprinkle of the big salt to form a circle around the benches of the churches once everyone has sat down, because in this way, the witch (which often assumes human form to deceive men) will not be able to cross the circle and it will be easy to identify it … A curious practice that recalls the system to generate a safe circle against ghosts, but this is another story. ..
