The legend of the wood creature: The Waldschrat

Friends this I’m going to tell you is a rather curious legend because you know its origin and is quite indicative of the madness that ensued …

This being should be a kind of forest Troll, especially Germanic forests, so we presumably find ourselves in the Black Forest. Let’s go back to 1913, when a young Adolf Hitler decided to go to say goodbye to a dear friend, that Hans Lodz, before leaving for Monaco to seek his fortune the spring before the outbreak of the First World War, which at the time was called the great war , ignoring the fact that then there would be another worse and because of him …

Now it is important to say that Lodz was what we will call today pharmacist, but with much less scruples, who loved experimenting with various herbs, creating decoctions often hallucinogens that he offered to young Adolf during his stay at his house. Lodz was certainly an unconventional type, living in a shed in the woods and practicing strange rituals that evidently had a strange influence on Adolf due to his subsequent fixation for the occult.

Hitler told of drinking this strange soup and shortly after finding himself in a fairy world, where his anxieties and fears took physical form interacting with him as in a primordial form of eggregore … One of these creatures was the Waldschrat, an absurd being made up of animal bones and various plant species, with a deer-headed deer with ramified horns and a skin that descended beneath the shoulders and scary plant-like claws on tree roots shoulders carries strange objects similar to those of a black shaman, while his legs are more like trees that end with truncated roots …

Today this being is part of Germanic mythology but many ignore its daring origins and, perhaps, if they knew they would not be so proud of them 😉
