Festa della donna: Quel che sembra solo in pochi ricordino
Oggi festeggiamo una importante ricorrenza che molti conoscono unicamente come della festa della donna, e, sfortunatamente, sono spesso proprio le festeggiate a conoscere poco il senso più profondo di questa giornata.
La data dell’8 marzo ha un significato ben più profondo delle feste nei bar e negli spogliarelli, che vengono organizzati unicamente a scopo di lucro dai vari gestori… Questo giorno ricordiamo le conquiste politiche, sociali ed economiche delle donne e le violenze che hanno subito nella storia, violenze che trovano erroneamente un esempio eccellente nella tragedia che viene datata 1908 quasi ovunque e che ha visto come protagoniste 146 persone, di cui la maggior parte donne, operaie dell’industria tessile Cotton di New York, rimaste uccise da un incendio. Così dal momento che fuori dalla fabbrica pare fosse presente un albero di mimosa, questo bellissimo fiore dorato è diventato il simbolo della festa…
In realtà l’incendio che si associa all’evento è datato 25 marzo 1911 ma dal momento che il messaggio è assolutamente positivo si tratta di un errore a fin di bene. La festa della donna rappresenta l’emancipazione, il rivendicare dei diritti che non possono essere cancellati, rappresenta l’uguaglianza di genere.
Nel febbraio 1908 la socialista Corinne Brown dichiarò sulla rivista The Socialist Woman che il Congresso non aveva “alcun diritto di dettare alle donne socialiste come e con chi lavorare per la propria liberazione”. Il 3 maggio 1908 la Brown presiedette la conferenza del Partito socialista a Chicago, che venne ribattezzata “Woman’s Day”, durante la quale si parlò dello sfruttamento dei datori di lavoro nei confronti delle operaie, delle discriminazioni sessuali e del diritto di voto.
In un epoca come quella che stiamo vivendo, caratterizzata da così tanti femminicidi, come forse non se ne erano mai visti prima, è necessario sposare questi valori di giustizia ed eguaglianza, e ricordare che le donne maltrattate o uccise potrebbero essere nostra sorella o nostra madre, in ogni angolo del mondo dove una donna viene sottoposta a violenza muore un piccolo pezzo di umanità.
