Brigata Sassari: L’origine della leggendaria brigata dei diavoli rossi, i Dimonios
Amici questa che vi racconto è una storia che non si racconta, leggendaria ma non inventata, si tratta della leggenda dei Dimonios. Siamo al tempo della prima guerra mondiale, quella che veniva chiamata la “Grande Guerra”, un evento che ha segnato le vite di milioni di persone, strappate alle loro famiglie, allontanate dalla propria terra, per essere gettate in pasto alla violenza, a strisciare nelle trincee in mezzo al fango ad ai cadaveri…
In questo quadro mostruoso si inserisce la storia del battaglione della Brigata Sassari, passati poi alla storia come i diavoli rossi, Dimonios. Questi uomini non solo si videro catapultati in mezzo a questo inferno, ma vennero trattati a pesci in faccia dai commilitoni di altre regioni, sottomessi dagli ufficiali ed utilizzati in prima linea come carne da macello.
L’origine della loro leggenda non avvenne sul campo di battaglia, ma proprio nei loro accampamenti, quando bistrattati e continuamente vessati da tutti decisero di ribellarsi con una violenza tale da guadagnarsi il soprannome ormai a tutti noto, esistono ancora alcuni testimoni, figli di questi uomini che hanno raccontato la vicenda che potete trovare pubblicata con nomi e date su questo bellissimo articolo della Nuova Sardegna.
Gli avversari furono ridotti in barella, e gli ufficiali si resero conto che questi uomini non solo erano estremamente duri ma che sarebbero stati una pedina fondamentale in battaglia. Si racconta che il generale in capo, saputo della vicenda, disse: “Se è vero, come è vero, che un gruppo di sardi riesce a sbaragliare un reggimento al completo, allora se riusciamo a formare una brigata di soli sardi potremmo vincere qualsiasi guerra”.

The origin of their legend did not happen on the battlefield, but in their camps, when mistreated and constantly harassed by everyone decided to rebel with such violence to earn the nickname now known to all, there are still some witnesses, children of these men who told the story that you can find published with names and dates on this beautiful article of Nuova Sardegna.
The adversaries were reduced on stretcher, and the officers realized that these men were not only extremely hard but that they would be a key piece in battle. It is said that the general in chief, known of the story, said: “If it is true, as is true, that a group of Sardinians can rout a regiment to complete, then if we can form a brigade of only Sardinians we could win any war “.
