An ancient legend of forbidden love: Su Para and sa Mongia

Friends what I’m going to tell you is a Sardinian legend that everyone knows in the area of Sant’Antioco … Just off the island, along the highway we can admire two splendid Menhirs that have an incredible legendary history.

The shape of the two heavy stones reminds one of two stylized human figures, one a bit taller than the other, who look a few meters away. Legend has it that these two menhirs were in the past two human beings and precisely a friar and a nun who, hopelessly falling in love with each other, contravived their vows by yielding to desire …

This sacrilegious act of theirs aroused the wrath of God, which turned them into two heavy stones, close enough to look each other in the eyes but not enough to touch each other. Clearly I tell you this story that has absolutely no bottom of truth, however, although the result of fantasy, is a love story full of romance and pathos.

No ghost story or strange apparitions related to this place that only coincidentally is very close to the house of the black shadows of which we spoke long ago (article: https://realmisterx.altervista.org/lo-spettro-della-vecchia- casa-cantoniera /), if you want to visit this place, here’s the map:
