Un occhio sulle maledizioni: La maledizione del cavaliere di Valchiavenna
Caro lettore, la storia che vado a raccontarti oggi è quella del Cavaliere di Valchiavenna. Tale racconto fa parte delle leggende popolari più diffuse nella zona, e racconta la storia di due uomini che viaggiando da Mese a Campedello sentirono all’improvviso lo stridere degli zoccoli di un cavallo come se fosse arrivato dal nulla tanto fitta era la nebbia…
Si voltarono e videro un maestoso cavallo con in sella un cavaliere che non mostrò il volto quasi come se un volto non lo avesse proprio; si rivolse ai due viandanti e con voce profonda e ferma disse di essere uno spirito con una missione da affidare proprio a loro due, si sarebbero dovuti recare sul greto del fiume Mera e li avrebbero trovato un grosso macigno incandescente contrassegnato da un marchio giallo. Una volta trovato avrebbero dovuto spostarlo per scoprire il tesoro celato al di sotto e cioè una preziosissima catena d’oro purissimo.
Le sue parole poi furono: “Badate, però, è una catenella maledetta, non donatela alle vostre donne, perché è appartenuta ad un cavaliere spagnolo che nei secoli passati ha portato la guerra in questa valle e per questo porta male. Donatela, invece, alla chiesa di S. Croce di Piuro, e tutti i defunti di questo paese vi saranno riconoscenti” Poi lo spirito scomparve. I due uomini seguirono le istruzioni del Cavaliere, trovarono il grosso masso, lo spostarono con fatica e finalmente ebbero in mano il tesoro. Ma si sa che l’uomo è poco incline a seguir le regole ed i due spinti dalla sete di denaro vendettero la catena invece che donarla alla chiesa.
Passarono dodici mesi dal fatto ed i due si ritrovarono nella stessa zona dove avevano incontrato il cavaliere, ma questa volta non sentirono il cavallo né tanto meno videro il Cavaliere, ma le stesse tenebre della volta precedente questa volta portarono loro solo la morte improvvisa.

The two men followed the instructions of the Knight, they found the big rock, they moved it with difficulty and finally they had the treasure in their hands. But we know that man is not inclined to follow the rules and the two driven by the thirst for money sold the chain instead of giving it to the church.
Twelve months went by and the two found themselves in the same area where they had met the knight, but this time they did not hear the horse nor saw the Knight, but the same darkness of the previous time this time brought them only sudden death.
